Droughts Affect More Than Just Crops
I think this recent rain was an answer to many prayers due to the Midwest drought. Crops, lawns, and trees have really paid the price this summer with the lack of rain and we can only hope more rain is in our forecast. But did you know that severe droughts can affect more than just crops?
That’s right. They can affect your home too… your home’s foundation to be more specific. When temperatures rise into the 100s and the soil remains dry for long periods, the soil begins to crack. And shrinking soil beneath a home’s weight causes settlement, putting the foundation at risk of cracking and damaging the home.
More modern homes may not be at as high of risk, but homes built before 1970 may have safety concerns of being built on a spread footing foundation. If you are concerned, it is a good idea to have your home’s foundation inspected. Otherwise, whoever did their successful rain dance, keep it up! If we get too much rain you can always rely on us to take care of any water damage.
As always, we’re here to rebuild your dreams, and restore your confidence! Visit us at www.SwartzContracting.com or find us on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, and Pinterest.
